Georgi Kanev is a Managing Associate in the Sofia office of Kinstellar, a leading independent law firm in Central and South Eastern Europe, and head of the firm-wide Interactive Entertainment & Gaming sector. He has more than ten years of experience in the technology sector and in various fields of law such as IP, IT, data protection, corporate and commercial law.

 

He has experience with both EU and national trademarks, IP enforcement and infringement, copyrights creation, maintenance and licensing, and trade secrets. He has led on a broad spectrum of personal data protection matters such as GDPR implementation, transfer of personal data, and data breaches. His expertise also covers IT law in relation to software development and end-use license agreements. Georgi has represented both major local and international companies in complex M&A transactions and restructurings, as well as in matters related to unfair competition.

 

He is registered as a Trade marks, Geographical Indications and Industrial Designs representative at the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria and as a Professional representative at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (Trade marks and Designs). He holds an LL.M. from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski and has attended CopyrightX: ILAC 2017, a specialised course on US copyright law under the auspices of Harvard University.
