The use of influencers in gambling marketing has been a trend for the past years, as is the case in almost every consumer-facing industry. However, it is not without its downsides. For example, their appeal may be considered unethical if their audience is predominantly young. To tackle these issues that influencer marketing is presenting, the European Commission held a consultation on the future Digital Fairness Act that will further regulate the internet for consumers. Thus, rules for influencers will be likely much more strict than the current situation. How is this going to affect gambling operators’ marketing strategies and how much should we bet on their continued use?

Synopsis: Regulators are increasingly attempting to replicate online gambling regulations within traditional licensed venues like casinos.
