Dr. Mariana Todorova is a futurist and associate professor at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She is a visionary, strategist, and author of books. Todorova has developed a new methodology for scientific forecasting by combining counterfactual analysis and scenario building.

 

She has specialized in leadership at Harvard University, the John F. Kennedy School of Government, the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) of the U.S. Department of State, and the Chinese Academy of Governance.

 

In 2019, Todorova co-authored a book titled “Future Studies and Counterfactual Analysis: Seeds of the Future” with the renowned American futurist Theodore Gordon (the ideologist of the third stage of the Apollo project for landing on the Moon). In 2020, she published her own book in Bulgarian titled “Artificial Intelligence: A Brief History of Development and Ethical Aspects.”

 

Todorova is the chair of the Millennium Project and Hera City, as well as a member of the World Academy of Arts and Sciences.  She was also representing Bulgaria at UNESCO in the intergovernmental meeting for the development of an ethical framework for artificial intelligence.
