Dr Planzer has specialised in gaming regulation for 13 years. He has substantially contributed to regulatory best practices through numerous publications, presentations and in his legal practice. He is endorsed as „absolutely excellent“ and „the top Swiss lawyer“ for gaming (Chambers). Simon wrote his PhD on European gaming regulation. He is an alumnus of the College of Europe and did further studies at Harvard University and the European University Institute. In addition to his legal practice, he serves as Lecturer in Law at the University of St.Gallen.
